184ServSafe_Logo.jpgThrough our partnership with the National Restaurant Association and its Educational Foundation, the VHC presents monthly ServSafe trainings and exams.  Recommended in Vermont, ServSafe is a day-long class to train and certify restaurant/foodservice employees on the basics of food safety. The ServSafe Certificate is valid for five years. Foodservice organizations recommended for ServSafe Certification include restaurants, convenience stores/delis, bars that serve food, nursing homes, hospitals, disaster relief agencies, technical centers, and schools. VHC members save $50 off the registration fee. Members also receive 10% off ServSafe and Prostart books and materials ordered through the VHC.

184Tech-Students1.jpgIn May 2008, the VHC completed a pilot program. This pilot certification reflects a combined initiative of the Vermont Hospitality Council of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, the Vermont Department of Education, and New England Culinary Institute. The intent is to assess and recognize individuals within Vermont technical centers who demonstrate outstanding entry level culinary arts knowledge and skills.  The VHC is now working with the Vermont Department of Education and the Department of Labor to take this pilot program into its second phase.
