Annually, the Vermont Hospitality Council (VHC) publishes Vermont's official tourism and travel fulfillment publications, the Vermont Vacation Guide (Summer/Fall) and the Vermont Winter Vacation Guide. Both guidebooks are a partner project of the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing and the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. The staff of the Vermont Hospitality Council develops the guidebook, which is divided into three different sections: editorial, listings and display advertisements, and resources.
The Vacation Guide for summer/fall is published in January, just after the holiday season. The print run is 200,000 copies. The Winter Guide is published in September, just after Labor Day, with a print run of 100,000 copies.
The guidebooks are sent to individuals from across the country and internationally, whose inquiries originate from the aggressively marketed Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing website (www.VermontVacation.com), Vermont's toll free visitor info number (1-800-VERMONT), and the Vermont Chamber's websites (www.VisitVT.com and www.vtchamber.com).
This popular niche publication, Vermont Country Inns and B & Bs, has a print run of 100,000. This piece is placed in strategically selected locations in major corporate and consumer centers down the eastern seaboard, as well as by request in visitor fulfillment packages.
The VHC partners each year with the Vermont Ski Areas Association and the Vermont Maple Foundation to publish the Vermont Ski Resort & Year-Round Maple Syrup Guide, with a print run of 80,000 copies. This map is distributed through traditional outlets in major metro drive markets, but also reaches potential visitors at regional ski shows, and Vermont maple facilities. It is also very popular at Vermont Welcome Centers.
Through its management contract with the Vermont Attractions Association, the VHC annually creates 1.2 million copies of the Official Vermont Road Map & Guide to Vermont Attractions. The map is produced by the Vermont Attractions Association in cooperation with the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing. This is the most popular travel piece requested at the Vermont Welcome Centers.
To facilitate our members' group tour marketing goals, VHC also participates in industry trade shows on behalf of our members, including National Tourism Association, American Bus Association, Pow Wow, China World Travel Fair, and Discover New England.
To advertise or for more information Email Chris Sluicer, Director of Advertising, or reach him at 802-229-2294.
As part of our marketing efforts, the Vermont Hospitality Council (VHC) each year sponsors the Vermont Travel Industry Conference (VTIC), which in 2009 celebrated its 25th year. The VHC staffs a booth which displays and distributes all of our publications.
Samantha and Chris show off the 2009 Vermont Vacation Guide at the 2009 Vermont Travel Industry Conference (VTIC) in Manchester, VT.
Every year, the VHC organizes the popular Top Ten Summer, Top Ten Fall, and Top Ten Winter Events contests. Winners of the Top Ten designation receive additional publicity in the Vermont Vacation Guide (Summer/Fall), and the Vermont Winter Vacation Guide.
