Vermont Chamber’s Aerospace and Aviation Association to Hold Open House
Greening Aviation and GE Aviation to be discussed; Senator Patrick Leahy, Congressman Peter Welch to Attend (invited)

The Vermont Chamber’s Aerospace and Aviation Association (VAAA) will hold an Open House event at the Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport in North Clarendon on Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 3 - 5 p.m.

Join us for this high-profile event, sponsored by GE Aviation of Rutland, that will feature greening aviation and the important and growing role that GE Aviation Rutland plays in the production of the GEnx engine, which will be used to power the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the 747-8 with greater gains in fuel efficiency and performance. This event will also celebrate the Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport and the work to upgrade the facilities by Senator Leahy, Congressman Welch and the Rutland Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Drivers that propel the greening of aviation include global competition, regulations of airport noise and aircraft emissions, rising jet fuel prices, and the need to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and green up our blue skies.

“The aviation industry is an important sector of Vermont’s economy,” said Chris Carrigan, Vice President of Business Development at the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. “By holding these VAAA Open Houses, we are providing members with tangible, business-to-business networking opportunities to promote and grow the aviation industry in Vermont.”

An impressive lineup of speakers includes: President Betsy Bishop, Vermont Chamber of Commerce, Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy, Congressman Peter Welch, Lt. Governor and VAAA Chair and ASA National Chair Brian Dubie, Scott A. Ernest, Vice President and General Manager, Supply Chain, GE Aviation, and Rick Stephens, Senior Vice President Human Resources and Administration, The Boeing Company.

The VAAA is managed by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce; it was established in an effort to promote and grow aerospace and aviation in the Green Mountain State. Quarterly networking meetings are held at aviation facilities around the state to provide important updates in aviation and aerospace, as well as networking opportunities.
