FAA gives “Wings” to Vermont Flight Academy
The Vermont Chamber’s Vermont Aviation and Aerospace Association is very pleased to announce exciting news from the Vermont Flight Academy in Burlington. Vermont Flight Academy, based at Burlington International Airport, has been awarded FAA Air Agency Certification as a 14CFR Part 141 Flight School, becoming the ONLY FAA Approved Part 141 Flight School in Vermont and one of only three in New England.
Before this certification is awarded to a Flight School, numerous standards and rigorous conditions must be met. Going forward, the FAA will closely monitor flight training done by Vermont Flight Academy to ensure quality and consistency.
Doug Smith, Chief Flight Instructor, FAA Designated Pilot Examiner, and one of the three founders of Vermont Flight Academy,
Being an FAA Approved Part 141 Flight School has tremendous advantage for our students: training follows a structured curriculum; our school is continuously monitored by the FAA for quality of our instruction; students are able to obtain educational loans for flight training; Veterans can use their GI Benefits for education and training; and minimum hours for Pilot Certifications are reduced which can lead to huge financial savings. Our certification opens up new opportunities for people who want to realize their dream of becoming a pilot.
VFA offers Part 141 instruction for Private Pilot Certification, Instrument Rating, and Commercial Pilot Certification and plans to add other ratings and certificates in the near future.
