Moose Sighted on the State House Lawn, No Fooling

Even though Wednesday is April Fools Day, we aren’t fooling around. There really will be moose on the State House lawn.

Come and get an early sneak peak of Bennington Moosefest. A family of handcrafted fiberglass moose from the festival will be on display from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday April 1st in front of the State House. These pieces of art are all hand-painted by different Vermont artists.  Governor Douglas will also make an appearance with the moose at 11:30 a.m.

Bennington Moosefest is a fundraiser organized by the Bennington Area Chamber of Commerce. This year, 50 hand-crafted, hand-painted moose will be on display around Bennington and the surrounding area.

This fall, the moose will be auctioned off to raise money to support the arts, art education, and future marketing endeavors in the Bennington area.

Bennington Moosefest has also been rated one of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce Top 10 Summer Events in 2009.

The moose herd will be unveiled on May 13th  in Bennington and will be auctioned off this fall.
