Vermont Chamber of Commerce Announces EXPO 2010 Events Schedule

 

Join the Vermont Chamber of Commerce in celebrating the 26th anniversary of the Vermont Business and Industry EXPO. The May 26 & 27 trade show, held at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in Burlington, features a variety of seminars, special events, and award ceremonies. Check the schedule of events below!

Wednesday, May 26:

8–9:45 am
Kick off EXPO with the Senator Leahy Business Breakfast and discover how a $68 million federal Smart Grid grant will connect Vermont’s electricity generators, transmitters, and consumers. This buffet breakfast is sponsored by Velco.

10-10:30 am – EXPO Opening Ceremonies: Governor Jim Douglas will hand out the highly anticipated Deane C. Davis Outstanding Business of the Year Award, presented by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce and Vermont Business Magazine. The three finalists for this year’s award are: BioTek Instruments, Inc. of Winooski, The Foley Family of Companies of Rutland, and Small Dog Electronics of Waitsfield.

12 noon-2 pm – Let’s Do Lunch! Presented by EWA Government Systems, Inc. - An informal networking luncheon for business leaders to meet face-to-face.

2-3:30 pm – 7 Experts-7 Tips-7 Minutes Seminar - A panel of experts will share their tips on the evolution of social business including local networks, company policies, measuring ROI, and mobile resources. Business owners as well as PR and marketing professionals won’t want to miss this seminar!

5-7 pm - EXPO Networking Reception sponsored by Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom. This event is free to attendees and exhibitors to mingle and celebrate with Vermont’s business community.

 

Thursday, May 27:

9-11:30 am – Building Blocks Seminar Series - Attend these short seminars for news you can use and be on your way in 30 minutes. Topics include: ‘Open Innovation’ is the Future; Secure Your Computer, Protect Your Business; HR for Small Business; and Real World Health Care Reform. Sponsored by TD Bank and Cigna.

12 noon-2 pm – “Meet the Candidates” Luncheon: Join us as the gubernatorial candidates take questions from business leaders on the critical issues facing businesses today and hear first-hand how the candidates see the future of Vermont. Sponsored by Comcast Business Class.

2:15-2:30 pm – VT REAL Youth Entrepreneurship Business Plan Award Presentation: Share the excitement as six young, innovative students from around the state are recognized for their well crafted business ideas in the VT REAL Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition. The awards ceremony concludes a semester-long program that challenges Vermont’s high school students to develop successful business plans.

Now in its 26th year, EXPO is the region's largest business-to-business trade show, hosting nearly 200 exhibitors and attracting more than 3,000 business leaders from Vermont, New England, and Canada.
